Discussion Questions

LEADERS: There is no pressure to get through all the questions; we suggest prayerfully planning your choices for your group. Your leadership of sharing and questioning will determine how deep your group goes with each question.

  • What stood out to you in the sermon this week?

  • What did God reveal to you in the scriptures (James 5:7-20) this week, maybe for the first time?

  • What are your takeaways from the James series? What has God revealed to you about His character?
What has the Holy Spirit shifted in you over the last few days to be more like Jesus?

  • Read James 5:7-12.
James points us to three examples of patience in hardship and suffering: the patience of the farmer, the prophets and Job. Discuss how each of these examples demonstrate patience and steadfastness in suffering.

How does God model patience with us?

  • James talks about patience in suffering three times in just two verses. Where in your life is God giving you opportunities to practice patience?

  • Read James 5:13-14.
Have you ever seen or experienced a miracle?

Which of the actions James describes in these verses do you need to do?

How can your disciple group help you take your next step of faith right now?
