Discussion Questions

LEADERS: There’s no pressure to get through all these questions during your time, but I suggest prayerfully planning your choices. Your leadership of sharing and questioning will determine how deep your group goes with their answers.

What stood out to you from the sermon this week?

Read Mark 2:1-12. What did God reveal to you in the scriptures this week, maybe for the first time?

GROW

The paralytic was desperate. There will come a day where you find yourself paralyzed by fear or doubt or a financial situation or a health crisis or a relational problem.

-Share a time when you were desperate, completely without hope. How did you respond? What was the result?

-When you are desperate, do you have four friends who will carry you to Jesus? Write down their names right now. If you don’t have friends like that, what can you do to find them and be a godly friend to others?

DEEPER

-How would addressing the paralytic as “son” have affected his identity?

- What do you think Jesus meant when He said, "Which is easier to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven' or 'Get up, take up your mat and walk'?

The four friends each held ropes attached to the corners of the paralytic’s mat. Laddie said the 4 corners could represent: Sharing, Serving, Removing Obstacles, and Let God.

-Which corner is God calling you to during this season?

- In what ways are you "removing obstacles" so people can get to Jesus?

- Read Ezekiel 36:26. Why is the "Let God" corner so important?

- What can happen when we try to play the God part in someone else's story?

ACTION STEP

The four friends each held ropes attached to the corners of the paralytic’s mat. Corner One is sharing your faith. Corner Two is serving the local church.

Take some time to write out your testimony, your story with Jesus. Pray that God will give you an opportunity to share your faith this week. Report back to group next week what happened.
