Miracles 8The Holy Spirit - In terms of miracles the filling of the spirit into believers is a miracle second only to the resurrection. The greatest is god coming down to live with us. The second is god coming to live in us! Abundant life, miracles, Pentecost, The Holy SpiritActs 10:37-38If you want to know what it is like to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit you only need to look to Jesus. Has there ever been anyone more filled of the spirit than the second member of the trinity Jesus Christ? No, so if we want to know what a Christin who is possessed and lead by the Holy Spirit there is no one better to emulate. Jesus lived his life by the power of the HS so to live a spirit filled life is to live like Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is the power by which we can live this life.
We do a better job of making sure our phones are powered and give little thought to powering our soul. How did Jesus do it?

What is the secret to Jesus success?

At Jesus’ baptism the Holy Spirit lighting on him like a dove was not for Jesus, it was for everyone else. He is the God-man. Not part of both but all of each. He would voluntarily choose not to use some of his diving attributes while here as a man. Everything he did he did by the power of the spirit. He never cheated. He never played the “God” card. He did this to show us that we too can live a life that is powered by our spirit. That we can have victories in the life because of the spirit in us. He was filled by, powered by and guided by the Holy Spirit. The exact same spirit that lives in you if you have surrendered to Jesus as your lord and savior.

How does one become spirit filled?

What does a spirit filled life look like?

Let’s go to our authority, the scriptures.

How does one become spirit filled?

1. You have to believe that Jesus is who he says he is and he will give it to you. How much more does your Heavenly Father give the spirit to those who ask? 1. 1 John 4:2-3 - Who Jesus is.

2. Acts 2:38 - Who you are, you are a sinner that needs to repent, not a mistaker that needs a second chance

3. Romans 8:9 - Understand that you are to live a surrendered life to Christ, a constant state of surrender.

4. Eph 1:13-14 - The spirit is God’s deposit on your soul ensuring that you will be with him. He is the evidence.

TRUTH: We receive all of the spirit, at the moment of salvation. All that you need is immediately available to us and is living through us. When we fill like we are “empty” or lacking, or needing to be filled by the spirit it isn’t because we have less of him. This is such an important spiritual truth. He doesn’t lose you. He doesn’t forget you. He isn’t looking for you. You have left Him behind. He doesn’t diminish in you over time. He is infinite. He doesn’t get further away unless you’re the one walking. What you are actually experiencing is you hoarding yourself. You don’t need more of him, he is looking for more of you. If you feel like God isn’t there as much anymore or you feel like your prayers are hitting the ceiling or that you don’t feel his presence it has nothing to do with you needing more of him.

You need to figure out what parts of you, you took back from him?

1. Who have you decided to not forgive?

2. What secret sin do you have?

3. Who are you taking advantage of?

4. What selfish act is keeping you from having a servants heart?

5. How much are you staying in the presence of His body (at church) and in the presence of his word (in study) and int he presence of his heart (prayer)

At salvation you have all of him and every time you feel like you are getting a second blessing of the presence of God in your life you can tie it back to a surrendering.

Questions.

What do you need to learn?

What temptation do you need to overcome?

Where are you weak and falling short?

Where are you proud and needing to grow humble?

Where are you foolish and needing to grow wise?

Where are you lazy and needing to find discipline?
